
James Knutson is a multidisciplinary artist interested in creating
visually arresting works achieved through an interaction of material,
colour, scale and repetition.
His training and practice as a jeweller
has driven an exploration grounded in precision, and applied to
various mediums including silver, gold, platinum and precious stones.
Concurrently, this exploration has been applied to sculpture and
painting, producing works of stretched canvas, which wrap and contort
over handmade timber structures. These pieces adorn spaces in the
same way jewellery adorns the body – existing intimately amongst other
forms, complementing their surroundings and intriguing the viewer
